Remote Commands
(scroll for the list)
A Remote Command is any request made to the Target device through the software. This includes all setting changes made from the Dashboard, and any on-demand requests such as taking pictures through the phone’s camera (RemCam).
Most commands can be accessed immediately through the regular Dashboard menus, with no need to do anything more than click a button.
Changes made from the Dashboard use Internet to send commands to the Target device. Providing that “Push Notification” status that you can see on the Dashboard says “Connected”, the Target device will receive your Dashboard commands immediately. For this reason, there is no need to send remote commands by SMS.
If “Push Notification” status is not “Connected”, it means the Target device may have some connection issue. You can still choose the commands that you want to be sent and it will be sent to the Target device when it next connects to the server.
However there is also a set of SMS command equivalents that can be sent offline or manually from any phone directly to the Target device IF your Target device is a rooted Android with Full permission mode or jail broken iPhone.
Times you may wish to use SMS commands include:
- Troubleshooting
- Target device does not have reliable Internet access, or you do not have access to login and send commands from the Dashboard
- You need to send a time sensitive or on demand command to the Target device with an immediate response
Time Sensitive Commands
Time sensitive commands refer to features we usually want to activate immediately. If there is much delay in processing a time sensitive command, it might miss the window of opportunity we intended. Here are some of these “on-demand” features:
- Ambient Recording
- Remote Camera (RemCam)
- Remote Video (RemVideo)
- Get Current Location
- Activate
- Deactivate
- Uninstall
- Send Immediate
- Get Diagnostic
- Restart Device
Some of these are used in troubleshooting or to verify the program’s running status, but any command or settings change can be sent by SMS if you or the Target phone does not have a reliable Internet connection, or if you need to ensure a command is processed immediately.
Final Caution
SMS commands are for the Target device that is a rooted Android with Full permission mode or jail broken iPhone only. If your Target device is a non-rooted Android, rooted Android with Limited or Normal mode, BlackBerry or Symbian, remote command must be sent from the Dashboard only.
SMS commands sent to Android Targets either unrooted or not running in FULL mode will appear visible on the Target phone as normal SMS from the number you sent it from.
SMS must be sent EXACTLY as detailed below, or it will not be processed and may appear as visible SMS on the Target.
Command Reference
All commands must be sent exactly as shown, including the <, *, # and > symbols, without spaces. Make sure to get your license (activation) key correct. You can find your license key using the ACCOUNT menu.
The <D> at the end of the commands below is optional, and if included will request a reply SMS from the Target to confirm the command was received and processed properly. This reply SMS is also deleted from the Target SMS logs.
If you make a settings change via SMS command, it may not reflect in the Dashboard settings until the next time the phone connects. Use the <D> option to confirm SMS command results.
